I’m known as an artist here, around this area, but I’ve been writing for some years, too. Short stories, but I also have an extensive collection of poetry and hundreds of what I call epigrams or euphemisms, or what, I don’t know. They cause you to think. It’s a concept and then a very short statement. Those are also in manuscript form. I don’t get to talk to people who are more educated than I am. All I have is a high school education, but that doesn’t matter– I’m creative. I have 350 poems—not all worthy, but some are. And now the stories. The next one is called Quinten’s Breakfast. I’m finishing right now something called Beautiful Homes, that’s the long one. There’s one called Twenty-One Coffee Clutches. Each one has a different take on how people handle such things as foreclosure, substance abuse, death, difficulties in relationships. It’s not preachy. It’s down to earth.
What motivates your writing? I have a great love for people. You can’t just positively love everybody; but people in general, absolutely. I want to reach them with something good. There’s so much dirt out there. There’s a lot of shallow stuff, a lot of violence. This is not like that.
